In Vijayapur district, Indi taluka great saint and Mahatma Shri Shri Shri Sadguru Pundalingeshwar Maha Math Sukshetra (holy place) Golasar is famous among all the Maths in Vijayapur district.
Shri Pundalingeshwar Ji was born in Golasar as a blessed son of Shri Alingaray Ji and Layavvambe Ji Couple in the year 1906 on Monday at an auspicious hour. Before the birth of Pundalingeshwar ji, Guru Jakkappayya Ji of Sindagi foretold that Alingaraya and Layavvambe would get the child who would come like a sun who illuminates and reform the society and redeem troubled men by his virtuous path of life. Though Pundalingeshwar Ji led a conjugal (Married) life like common people yet followed uncommon way of life as to be an ideal for devotees sukshetra Golasar sanctuary (holy place). Here innumerous devotees visit as pilgrims. Pundalingeshwar Ji hosted the visited devotees with holy feast (anna prasad) and blessing them with his thoughtful advices to lead an ideal life. So, this was a silent revolution of reformation started and still continued by successors of Pundalingeshwar Ji.
The holy couple Pundalingeshwar Ji and Bhagirati Mata Ji gave birth to eight (8) children but out of them Chinmaya Murthy Trimurti Maharaj Ji alone survived as it was foretold by his mother Bhagirati Mata Ji at the time of the birth of her elder son Siddaraya.
Trimurti Maharaj Ji who did attain the Holy Power merely by service to his father and mother as Lord Shiva and Parvati. As Pundalingeshwar Maharaj Ji passed away in 1979, Trimurti Maharaj Ji started to give visit to devotees houses on their invitation and won the minds of devotees and remained in their hearts forever. Trimurti Maharaj Ji also completed his incarnation (avatar) when his Son was of Fourteen year old Shri Shri Shri Abhinava (Active) Pundalingeshwar Ji took over a great responsibility of Golasar which was a heavy and big task as he was only 14 years old. When Shri Trimurti Ji had passed away there was a critical concern of devotees of the Math that how could younger and not yet strong enough shoulder of Abhinava Pundalingeshwar Ji would bear such a burden of Math management and consideration of visiting devotees. This itself is a miracle that Balayogi Pundalingeshwar Ji carried on all his forefather’s traditions in a multiple way soon after Shri Shri Shri Abhinava Pundalingeshwar Ji took charge as a abbot (pattadhikara) of Golasar math started to perform functions like congregations to preach ideal principles to devotees and with social concern programs like mass-marriage to help poor parents to get their grown up sons and daughter marry. And some agricultural exhibition programs for poor farmers and some medical camps for age old and poor patients and so on.
Thus, a sanctuary (holy place) Golasar where devotees visit as pilgrims to get blessings and solutions for their problems and get solved as a redemption merely by sweet tender and motherly affectionate approach of Shri Shri Shri Abhinava Pundalingeshwar Ji.
